Exfoliate! Everything! Baking soda can of course be used to exfoliate our bodies but did you know that we can also use it to exfoliate our fruit? Baking soda takes the waxy layer that is on fruit right off. Whenever I wash my fruit for the week I use baking soda to wash the fruit and just another tip, I use a little white vinegar and water to soak fruits with hard skin like oranges, watermelon and grapefruit to clear off dirt and debris. If you are wondering why, it is so that when you use your knife to cut the fruit open, you are not transferring any of the dirt, wax, or chemical from the skin into the flesh or the fruit.
Treat sunburns! Yes, nothing calms sunburn pain better than baking soda. Just mix two tablespoons into a large bowl of water and place a clean wash cloth (preferably white to avoid dyes) and soak. Remove cloth and ring out excess water and place on the burn. Allow the cloth to stay on the burn for at least 30 min for relief.
Lighten your underarms!! This is especially important to us ladies. Simply make a paste with baking soda and lemon juice (I have found water is fine too) and exfoliate your under arms 2x weekly. This is also great for getting any deodorant build up from your arm pits as well!
Remove Dandruff! Because baking soda is alkaline based, it is great for balancing our scalps PH balance. Take 1 tablespoon and mix with just enough water to form a paste and rub into wet scalp. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes and rinse. Do this after your shampoo.
