True or False: Men wore high heels first
Did you guess true?
It was men who wore heels first in modern history, not women. The first heels worn by men were worn because it made it easier for them to keep their feet in the stirrups when they were riding horses. The trend for women to wear high heels is thought to have begun in 16th century Italy, when the noblewoman, Catherine de Medici, wore heels to boost her height when she met the future king Henry.
